Roman Wilson arrived at Michigan in the 2020 recruiting class as the No. 3 overall recruit from Hawaii. Having played his high school football at St. Louis High, Wilson won four straight state titles in the Open Division of the HHSAA. Wilson played immediately for the Wolverines and racked up solid numbers in the 2020, 2021 and 2022 seasons. But it was in the 2023 season that he emerged as one of the top playmakers in college football. Wilson was named Michigan's offensive player of the game in six of the Wolverines' first eight games, but he said he feels a little underappreciated when compared to some of his peers. “That’s kinda been my life since I was a young kid,” the Honolulu native said. “I’ve always known I’m a very good player and I can be one of the best one day. But yeah, I’m leading the country in whatever stat, and some people still don’t think I’m that good, so I just gotta keep going.”
