OklahomaOklahoma · HS Class of 2015
Buffalo2019 Draft · Rnd 2 · Pick 38

Samson Okunlola reminds us of Cody Ford due to his frame, length and ability as a run blocker at the same stage. Both showed the ability to move defenders as drive blockers and have the skill set to play multiple spots along the offensive line at the next level.

Samson Okunlola Scouting Summary
Charles Power
04/17/22

Aggressive offensive lineman with nimble movement skills and a positive athletic profile. Has plus length for the position at 6-foot-5.5, 335 pounds with 34-inch arms. Added weight from his junior to seniors years, carrying much of his mass in the lower body. Has shown good short area quickness in the camp setting. Also spends time as a wrestler and thrower in the shot put. Plays both ways at his high school as an offensive tackle and defensive lineman. Has some dominant flashes, particularly as a run blocker. Moves well to the second level, locating and blowing up linebackers on contact. Finishes blocks at a high rate and works to plant defenders into the turf. Shows similar emphatic finishing ability on defense, where he suplexes ball carriers at times. Plays low and understands leverage. Will need to continue developing his pass set technique. Could also stand to improve his ankle flexion. Faces subpar competition and may need some time to adjust to the uptick in talent level once in college. Could project at offensive tackle or guard long-term

Personal Life

Thayer Academy coach Jeff Toussaint calls his offensive lineman Samson Okunlola a five-star on and off the field. On the field, Toussaint raves about Okunlola’s athletic skill set and size. “I certainly think if he stays healthy and wherever he goes and plays in college, he’ll have a chance to play in the NFL,” the coach said. Ever since he was a child, Okunlola has been bigger than his competition -- so much so that in his youth, he couldn’t play Pop Warner at times due to his size. Instead, he suited up for the Brockton Raiders of American Youth Football, which doesn't have any weight limits. Okunlola has a brother, Samuel Okunlola, who signed with Pittsburgh in the Class of 2022. Okunlola says his hobby is pottery, and he plans on majoring in business. His parents are Monica and Jomel Okunlol. He has two other siblings.
