Sean Clifford was an On3 Consensus four-star recruit coming out of Cincinnati St. Xavier High School in the 2017 recruiting class. During his high school career, he passed for 4,004 yards and 30 touchdowns with a school record 1,100 rushing yards and 20 running scores. Clifford emerged as the starting quarterback at Penn State during the 2019 season. He was picked as an honorable mention All-Big Ten pick by the coaches and media that season. He was named to the all-conference team again in the COVID-shortened 2020 season. In 2021, Clifford started all 13 games for the Nittany Lions, throwing for 3,107 yards and 21 touchdowns. He was honored in the 2021 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class, selected to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, earned a spot on the Senior CLASS Award first team, named All-Big Ten honorable mention by the coaches and media and was named Penn State's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree. Before the start of the 2022 season, Clifford launched Limitless NIL company. As CEO, Clifford hopes to make a difference in the lives of his fellow athletes and for the next wave of recruits coming into the new world of NIL. “It’s one of those things where I just want to be able to be a beacon of hope,” Clifford said. “Somebody who can speak out on issues when it comes to NIL.”
