Simeon Wilcher describes himself as a competitor that likes to rise to the moment. Take what he did as a junior in high school in New Jersey’s famed Tournament of Champions final. Going against No. 1 recruit D.J. Wagner, Wilcher scored 22 points, including going a vital eight of nine from the free-throw line to seal the victory in one of the biggest high school games of 2022. “It gives you that extra motivation, that you still have something to prove,” Wilcher told Slam. “You don’t need affirmation from anybody, but just personally, you want to go out and show you can compete against anybody.” Wilcher missed some time before his senior season with an ankle injury, but he still managed to average 19.2 points, 5.2 assists and 5 rebounds in pool play of Peach Jam for the City Rocks AAU. He was also named MVP of pool play.
