Entering the 2022 season at Duke, Sophie Jones had already earned second-team All-ACC honors in 2021 and was a member of the United Soccer Coaches All-America third-team squad. Playing primarily on defense in 2021, she started all 21 matches for the Blue Devils. Jones was also an All-ACC first-team pick after her sophomore season and on the ACC All-Freshman team after the 2019 season. Originally from Menlo Park (California) Menlo School, she was the second-ranked recruit in the nation coming out of high school. She was tabbed as the 2018-2019 Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year. Jones has also competed with the United States U23 Women’s Youth National Team at the Thorns Preseason Tournament in March of 2022. She is the daughter of Warren and Tina Jones. Jones has a twin brother, Austin. Jones is majoring in psychology along with a minor in sociology.
