Tyler Van Dyke was an On3 Consensus four-star recruit coming out of Glastonbury (Connecticut) Suffield Academy. He was also recruited by Michigan, Kentucky, Georgia Tech and Wisconsin. Van Dyke was named the 2021 ACC Rookie of the Year. He took over starting duties because of an injury to D’Eriq King three games into the season and ended the year by throwing for 2,931 yards, 25 passing scores, a 62% completion rate and only six interceptions. Van Dyke ended the season with six straight games with at least 300 passing yards and at least three touchdown passes, becoming the first Power-5 quarterback to record such a streak in a single season since Joe Burrow in his 2019 Heisman Trophy-winning campaign.
