Baltimore2021 Draft · Rnd 1 · Pick 27

Rashod Bateman and Wesley Grimes were two big senior risers. Both had huge final prep campaigns. Grimes has an argument as the most technically proficient wide receiver in the 2022 cycle with his combination of routes and ball skills. Bateman was a similarly polished and coordinated receiver while doubling as a top basketball player coming out of high school.

Wesley Grimes Scouting Summary
Charles Power
01/22/21

Highly technical and skilled receiver who rose to be one of the nation’s best at the position as a senior with a record-setting final high school season. Has one of the better combinations of route-running ability and ball skills in the 2022 cycle. A loose, fluid mover who is able to change directions mid-route with ease. Ran an inordinate amount of double-moves as a senior. Pairs the route-running with fantastic hands and tracking skills. Contorts his body to make high-level extended catches with regularity. Doesn’t show his hands until the ball is on him, so as to not tip off defensive backs. Almost always catches the ball cleanly. Runs with an easy, natural gait after the catch. Tested as a very good athlete on the camp circuit prior to his senior season. Has a lean build at 6-foot-2.5, 170 pounds. Should continue adding more mass and likely more speed once in a college strength program. Was perhaps the most productive top wide receiver prospect nationally as a senior with 1,594 yards and 26 touchdowns on 87 receptions.
