Will Rogers and his mentor, Gardner Minshew, are a lot alike. Both were three-star recruits out of Brandon, a small city of about 22,000 in central Mississippi. Both were star quarterbacks for Brandon High by their sophomore years of high school. Both finished their high school careers with over 9,000 passing yards and 79 touchdowns. And both ended up playing for Mike Leach in college despite not originally committing to play for him, and then thrived n Leach’s system. Rogers took as the starting quarterback in November of his freshman year and has continued to succeed since then. He became the first player in school history to have three straight games of 30-plus completions as a freshman. He is the son of Judy and Wyatt Rogers. Wyatt is the offensive coordinator at Brandon. Rogers is majoring in marketing at Mississippi State.
